Misting Fan Installation

Step 1) Connect the pump & filter.

Set the pump in a suitable location that is flat, dry, protected from the elements, and close to both a 120 GFI outlet and a water spigot or hose. A 3 foot connector hose is provided from the faucet to the filtration system and from the filtration system to the water pump. If there is a brass reducer fitting on the inlet to the pump be sure it has double Teflon wrap on the threads. Also put a double Teflon wrap on the male threads on the feeder hoses.

Determine where the filter should be placed so the feeder hoses allow a smooth run from the faucet to the filter and from the filter to the pump without kinking. Place the filter bracket on the wall and mark the four holes where you want it attached. Drill the holes with a 3/16 inch bit if using size 8-10 anchors. If attaching to a wood surface simply drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the supplied screws to be used. Attach the bracket to the wall using either anchors or the sharper of the provided screws.

Open the filter assembly, install the white filter in the canister, drop the time release anti-scale cartridge, which appears like a test tube in shape, into the filter cartridge and hand tighten the canister. Attach the filter canister to the wall bracket using the more blunted supplied screws. Screw the hoses into the filter canister being careful to put the proper hose on the In and Out female threads. Finally, screw on the hose to the In side of the pump and thread on the feeder hose to the faucet.

Step 2) Attach the nozzle assemblies to the fans.

The preferred height for patio fans is 8-9 feet and angled down at 30-40 degrees. Mounting screws are provided for attaching to wooden structures. If attaching to cement, stucco, or hollow walls please consult your local hardware store for the proper anchors, toggle bolts, or cement screws.

Most fans have a 1 ¼ inch hole in the center of the fan guard. Unscrew the back bar of the nozzle assembly so it is very close but still on the screw threads. Angle the assembly down into the fan guard, center it, and pulling out from the fan .turn the assembly clock-wise until it snugs up to the fan. Adjust the assembly so that the slip lock tube fitting is facing vertically or in the direction you intend to bring in the high pressure tubing.

Step 3) Attach fans to walls or ceilings.

Using the supplied hardware or that recommended by your hardware store hang the fans where desired. Test each fan for power on high speed and adjust to be sure they aim the breeze in the best direction based on where you do your relaxing. For best results place the fans six to fifteen feet from where you expect to be. Remember that each fan requires a GFI power source. Alternatively, you can have an electrician hard wire them on one line to be operated by a single wall switch.

Step 4) Attach the high pressure tubing to the nozzle assemblies.

Begin by cutting a short piece of tubing (1-3 feet) with the supplied cutters. On all cuts be sure to make them very perpendicular to the tubing. If they are cut on an angle the fittings may leak. Snap the tubing into the slip lock "Out" fitting on the pump. Snap the supplied pressure release valve into the tubing, aim the nozzle down and then proceed on to the fans.

We recommend that you use the supplied tube clamps every 24-30 inches. We were generous with the clamps, but more are available at your hardware store. Use the 90 degree elbows for going around corners and the tees if you want to run the tubing in two directions. For best results, run the tubing in the crease where the wall meets the ceiling. Of course, your project may have different design options.

When you get to each fan insert a slip lock tee on the tubing so that it aims directly over the fan toward the nozzle entry. Cut a piece of tubing about 3 feet long and insert it into the center of the tee. Snug the tee to the wall with a tube clamp and run the tube over the fan, zip tie it to the front edge of the fan, cut off the extra tubing and snap into the nozzle assembly.

Proceed to each additional fan in like manner. On the final fan (farthest from the pump) use a 90 degree slip lock elbow rather than a tee. Before connecting the last nozzle, turn on the water supply a half turn and start the pump. Run the pump for 30-60 seconds, allowing any dust and air bubbles to purge from the lines. Turn off water and pump, wipe off the moisture from the tubing to be inserted in the nozzle, and insert tubing.

Start up the water and pump again. The pressure release valve should squirt water for a few seconds while the pressure builds. If there is a lot of tubing in your system you may have to hold your thumb over the relief nozzle this one time only while the pressure builds. If there is a leak in the system you will know it quickly. Leaky fittings will not allow the pressure to build to the desired 900-1000 PSI. Simply jam the tubing into the leaky slip lock more forcefully and the problem will cease.

You are now ready to enjoy your patio as never before in the summer!

NEVER OPERATE A PUMP WITHOUT WATER ON. IT WILL BURN OUT THE PUMP!
